Bihar STET 2026 • Advt No: PR 183/2026
Bihar School Examination Board has announced Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026 for determining eligibility for Secondary and Higher Secondary teaching subjects in Bihar. Online applications will be accepted from 17 August to 31 August 2026. Paper-I and Paper-II are Computer Based Tests of 150 questions, 150 marks and 150 minutes each, with no negative marking.

Subject-wise educational and teacher-training qualification is prescribed separately for Paper-I (Secondary) and Paper-II (Higher Secondary). Paper-I generally requires the relevant subject or subject-group at graduation/postgraduation level with applicable B.Ed or recognised teacher-training qualification. Paper-II generally requires the relevant subject at postgraduate level with applicable B.Ed or recognised teacher-training qualification. Special School Teacher candidates must satisfy the prescribed Rehabilitation Council of India recognised special-education qualifications and requirements.

Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is conducting the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026 for determining teacher eligibility for Secondary and Higher Secondary level subjects in Bihar.
STET 2026 consists of Paper I for Secondary level and Paper II for Higher Secondary level. Eligible candidates may apply for either one paper or both papers according to their educational and professional qualifications.
Latest Update: BSEB has extended the Bihar STET 2026 online application last date from 31 August 2026 to 15 September 2026. Candidates who have not yet completed the application should submit the form within the revised deadline. Other eligibility conditions and examination provisions remain as prescribed in the original notification.

For most general subjects under Paper I, candidates should possess the prescribed subject at Graduation or Post-Graduation level with generally minimum 50% marks along with B.Ed from an NCTE-recognized institution, or the applicable alternative qualification permitted under NCTE regulations.
The general Paper I subjects include Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Maithili, Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian, Bhojpuri, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science. Separate eligibility conditions are prescribed for Physical Education, Music, Fine Arts, Dance and Special School Teacher subjects.
For Mathematics, Science and Social Science subject groups, candidates must satisfy the specific graduation-level subject combination prescribed by BSEB. Language-subject candidates must have studied the concerned language as the required Honours or subsidiary subject at Graduation level.
For most Paper II subjects, candidates should possess Post-Graduation in the concerned subject with minimum 50% marks and B.Ed from an NCTE-recognized institution, or one of the alternative professional qualifications permitted under the notification and applicable NCTE regulations.
Paper II subjects include Hindi, Urdu, English, Sanskrit, Bengali, Maithili, Magahi, Arabic, Persian, Bhojpuri, Pali, Prakrit, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Philosophy, Psychology, Home Science, Botany, Commerce, Computer Science, Agriculture and Music.
Computer Science has multiple prescribed qualification routes and B.Ed is not mandatory for Computer Science candidates under the conditions stated in the notification.
Bihar STET 2026 will be conducted through Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. Questions will be multiple-choice and each question carries one mark.
Specified Subject Content: 100 marks
Teaching Art and Other Skills: 50 marks
Total Marks: 150
Exam Duration: 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes)
Negative Marking: No negative marking
The result will be prepared using the Normalization method where the CBT is conducted in multiple shifts or dates. The normalized score, rather than the raw score, will be used to determine qualification.
Minimum age is 21 years as on 01 August 2026.
Unreserved Male: Maximum 37 years.
Unreserved Female: Maximum 40 years.
BC Male / Female: Maximum 40 years.
EBC Male / Female: Maximum 40 years.
SC Male / Female: Maximum 42 years.
ST Male / Female: Maximum 42 years.
PwD candidates are eligible for 10 years of upper-age relaxation subject to applicable Bihar Government rules. Eligible Ex-Servicemen receive the prescribed service-related age relaxation subject to the conditions stated in the notification.

Reservation-related age, qualifying-mark and fee concessions are available only to eligible permanent residents of Bihar according to the conditions in the notification.

Photograph Requirement: Recent colour photograph, 80 KB to 200 KB, approximately 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, with white or light-coloured background. Signature scan size should be 50 KB to 200 KB.
