SSC Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2026

Staff Selection Commission issued the official notice for Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2026 on 23 April 2026 for direct recruitment to Group B Non-Gazetted translation posts in various Ministries, Departments and Organisations of the Government of India.

SSC has announced 84 tentative vacancies for Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator, Senior Translator and Senior Translation Officer posts.

Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years as on 01 August 2026. Candidates born not before 02 August 1996 and not later than 01 August 2008 satisfy the normal age requirement.

Upper-age relaxation includes 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwBD, 13 years for PwBD-OBC and 15 years for PwBD-SC/ST. Eligible Ex-Servicemen and Defence Personnel also receive relaxation according to the notification.

The essential educational qualification must be possessed by 01 August 2026. Candidates require a prescribed Master's Degree involving Hindi and English at degree level.

For Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer and Junior Translator posts, candidates must additionally possess a recognised Diploma or Certificate course in Hindi-English translation or have two years of translation experience in a Central or State Government office, including a Government of India Undertaking.

For Senior Hindi Translator, Senior Translator and Senior Translation Officer posts, the corresponding translation experience requirement is three years where the candidate relies on experience instead of the prescribed translation Diploma or Certificate.

The application fee is ₹100. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and eligible Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempt from payment.

Paper-I is a Computer Based Objective Examination carrying 200 marks. It consists of General Hindi and General English.

Paper-II is a 200-mark descriptive Translation and Essay paper of two hours duration.

Candidates are shortlisted for Paper-II on the basis of Paper-I performance. For final merit, SSC will give 50% weightage to the Paper-I score and 100% of the Paper-II marks. Final allocation is also subject to post and department preferences submitted by candidates.

All posts carry All India Service Liability, meaning selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India.

Selected candidates will generally remain on two years of probation and may be required to undergo prescribed training or pass departmental examinations.

The online application and correction stages are complete. Paper-I is scheduled during August-September 2026. SSC will publish examination city information, admission certificates and subsequent notices on its official website.
