Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination may also apply subject to the conditions prescribed in the advertisement. Candidates who have passed the final professional MBBS or equivalent medical examination but have not completed internship may be provisionally admitted subject to the prescribed conditions.

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has issued Advertisement No. 59/8-2026 dated 26 August 2026 for the H.P. Administrative Service Combined Competitive Examination 2026.
The examination currently covers 22 vacancies across H.P. Administrative Service, Block Development Officer, District Controller, District Treasury Officer and Tehsildar posts. The number of vacancies may increase or decrease.

A uniform examination fee of Rs. 600 is payable by all candidates irrespective of category. The fee must be paid online and is non-refundable.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
Candidates awaiting the result of the qualifying examination may apply provisionally subject to the conditions prescribed in the advertisement. Candidates who have passed final professional MBBS or equivalent but have not completed internship may also be provisionally admitted subject to the notified conditions.
Desirable qualification includes knowledge of customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the conditions prevailing in the State.
The basic age limit is 21 to 35 years as on 01 January 2026.
Eligible SC, ST, OBC, Persons with Disabilities and Children or Grandchildren of Freedom Fighters of H.P. may receive 5 years upper-age relaxation where a post is reserved for the category.
Eligible H.P. Government servants and specified employees receive higher age limits according to the post and conditions stated in the advertisement.
Ex-Servicemen of H.P. receive age relaxation under the applicable State Government rules.
Himachal Pradesh reservation benefits are available only to eligible Bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh. Reserved-category candidates belonging to other States are treated as Unreserved candidates.
Stage 1: Screening / Preliminary Examination.
Stage 2: Main Examination.
Stage 3: Personality Test.
Paper-I consists of 100 objective questions for 200 marks with a duration of 2 hours. Preliminary merit for admission to the Main Examination is based on General Studies Paper-I marks.
Paper-II consists of 100 objective questions for 200 marks with a duration of 2 hours. It is qualifying in nature with 33% minimum qualifying marks.
Candidates must appear in both Preliminary papers. Approximately 20 times the total number of vacancies may be admitted to the Main Examination.
For each incorrect answer in the Preliminary Examination, one-third of the marks assigned to the question is deducted. No penalty applies to an unanswered question.
The Main Examination consists of six compulsory papers and two papers of one optional subject. Each paper is of three hours duration.
English: 100 marks.
Hindi: 100 marks.
Essay: 100 marks.
General Studies-I: 200 marks.
General Studies-II: 200 marks.
General Studies-III: 200 marks.
Optional Subject Paper-I: 100 marks.
Optional Subject Paper-II: 100 marks.
Candidates must obtain at least 40% marks separately in compulsory English and Hindi and 45% aggregate marks in the papers counted for the Main Examination aggregate. English and Hindi marks are qualifying and are not counted for overall ranking.
Preliminary Examination marks are not counted in final merit. Final ranking is based on Main Examination marks counted for merit together with Personality Test marks.
Matriculation certificate for age proof.
Bachelor's Degree certificate and marks sheets of all years or consolidated marks sheet.
Applicable SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Ex-Servicemen, Ward of Ex-Servicemen, WFF or disability certificate.
Bonafide Himachali Certificate for candidates claiming H.P. reservation benefits.
Valid EWS or BPL documents where applicable.
Ex-Servicemen Discharge Certificate or Service Book and other prescribed service documents where applicable.
Recent photograph, live photograph and scanned signature.
Applications must be submitted online through the HPPSC One Time Registration portal. The application is treated as successfully submitted only after the prescribed fee has been acknowledged.
