Intermediate Examination with Biology from the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh or an equivalent recognised examination, together with a 2 years 3 months Diploma in Veterinary Pharmacy from a university or institution established by law in India, and knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari script. Registration with a competent Veterinary Pharmacy Council or institution was prescribed in the service rules where available, but the notification records that registration is presently not required because a Veterinary Pharmacy Council does not currently exist in Uttar Pradesh.

Part-1 covers anatomy of livestock and poultry, livestock management, breeds and economic traits, nutrition and health, physiology, clinical pathology, parasitology, pharmacology, clinical biochemistry and gynaecology, clinical veterinary medicine, veterinary clinical pharmacy, surgical procedures, pharmacist jurisprudence, farm management and extension, and hospital practice training.
Part-2 covers computer fundamentals, hardware/software, Internet, email, MS Word and Excel, operating systems, e-Governance, digital financial tools, cyber security and contemporary technologies including AI, Big Data, Machine Learning and IoT. Part-3 covers history, culture, geography, economy, agriculture, administration, current events and other general information relating to Uttar Pradesh.
