The notification describes the advertised appointments as temporary. Reservation and the final number of vacancies remain subject to applicable Uttar Pradesh Government rules and departmental requirements.
Participation in UPSSSC PET-2025 is mandatory. Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination according to merit based on their PET-2025 normalized score.
Candidates who have obtained a zero or negative score in the PET-2025 absolute or normalized score will not be shortlisted for the Main Examination. Candidates whose PET-2025 result has been provisionally placed under investigation may participate subject to the final decision of the Commission.
The candidate must possess the prescribed Bachelor's-level qualification in the relevant scientific domain from a recognised university or institution as specified in the Uttar Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory Gazetted Technical Service Rules.

For Scientific Assistant, higher qualifications such as a relevant postgraduate degree or higher qualification in Computer Science, where applicable, may be treated as preferential qualifications under the notified service rules. Service of at least two years in the Territorial Army or possession of an NCC 'B' Certificate is also treated as a preferential qualification where applicable.
For Lab Assistant, candidates must possess the prescribed Bachelor's-level qualification in the relevant Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science domain as specified in the Uttar Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory Gazetted Technical Service Rules. For the Computer Science domain, a recognised Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or NIELIT 'A' Level Diploma is accepted as prescribed.
For Lab Assistant, two years of service in the Territorial Army or an NCC 'B' Certificate is treated as a preferential qualification under the applicable rules.
For both Scientific Assistant and Lab Assistant, the candidate should have attained the age of 21 years and should not have attained the age of more than 40 years on 1 July 2026.
Minimum age: 21 years.
Maximum age: 40 years.
Age calculation date: 1 July 2026.
Age relaxation: Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable to eligible reserved and other notified categories according to Uttar Pradesh Government rules and orders.
Reservation is applicable to eligible SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates of Uttar Pradesh and to eligible horizontal reservation categories in accordance with the prevailing State Government rules. Candidates claiming reservation must possess the prescribed valid supporting certificates.
Candidates are first shortlisted for the Main Examination on the basis of PET-2025 normalized score merit. Final recruitment is governed by the applicable direct recruitment and departmental service rules, with the notified selection basis being the written Main Examination followed by eligibility and document verification as applicable.
The written examination will contain 100 objective multiple-choice questions for 100 marks and the total duration will be 2 hours (120 minutes). Each correct answer carries one mark. For every incorrect answer, 25% of the marks assigned to that question, i.e. 1/4 mark, will be deducted.
