UKPSC Veterinary Officer Recruitment 2026

Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) has invited online applications for direct recruitment to the post of Veterinary Officer under the Animal Husbandry Department, Government of Uttarakhand.

The recruitment is being conducted through Advertisement No. A-2/DR(VO)/S-1/2026 and covers a total of 25 vacancies.

The Veterinary Officer post is classified as a Group B Gazetted post and carries Pay Matrix Level-10. The post is described in the notification as temporary and covered under the contributory pension system.

The examination fee must be paid online through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI. Fee once deposited is not refundable.

Total Veterinary Officer vacancies: 25 posts, comprising 20 posts under general recruitment and 5 posts under special backlog recruitment.

The special recruitment portion contains 5 backlog vacancies, including one Scheduled Caste vacancy and four vacancies connected with the notified PwBD backlog categories. The notification identifies the post for eligible disability sub-categories including OA, OL, LV/PB, HH/PD, DW and AAV/AV subject to the prescribed conditions.

Horizontal reservation in the general recruitment also includes applicable reservation for Uttarakhand women, Ex-Servicemen, orphan children, Uttarakhand State Movement beneficiaries and other notified categories according to the vacancy roster.

A candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) from a University established by law in India and recognized by the Veterinary Council of India, or another recognized equivalent veterinary qualification covered under the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984.

The candidate must also be duly registered with the Uttarakhand Veterinary Council.

The notification also recognizes specified equivalent veterinary qualifications covered by the applicable Government clarification and the Indian Veterinary Council Act.

Where other factors are equal, preference may be given to a candidate possessing one of the following:

The prescribed age limit is 21 to 42 years as on 01 July 2026. Accordingly, the candidate should not have been born after 01 July 2005 or before 02 July 1984, before applying applicable relaxations.

Eligible Uttarakhand SC, ST and OBC candidates receive 5 years of upper-age relaxation. Eligible dependents of freedom fighters and eligible PwBD candidates also receive relaxation as prescribed. Ex-Servicemen receive relaxation according to the conditions stated in the notification.

Veterinary Officer carries Pay Matrix Level-10, Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500.

The post is a Group B Gazetted post under the Animal Husbandry Department. The notification describes the post as temporary and covered under the contributory pension system. Appointment remains subject to prescribed medical fitness, character verification and other service conditions.

Selection will be made on the basis of merit prepared from marks obtained in the objective written examination, followed by verification of the claims and documents submitted by successful candidates.

Paper I contains 100 questions for 200 marks with a duration of 2 hours. It consists of 80 General Studies questions for 160 marks and 20 General Hindi questions for 40 marks.

Paper II contains 150 questions for 300 marks with a duration of 3 hours. Major areas include Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Microbiology, Parasitology, Pathology, Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology, Surgery & Radiology, Veterinary Medicine, Gynecology & Obstetrics and Veterinary Clinics.

Paper III contains 150 questions for 300 marks with a duration of 3 hours. It covers Veterinary Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Animal Genetics & Breeding, Livestock Production Management, Animal Nutrition and Livestock Products Technology.

Total Written Examination: 400 questions carrying 800 marks.

Negative Marking: One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every wrong answer. The same penalty applies when more than one answer is marked for a question. No penalty is imposed for a question left unanswered.

There are 25 Veterinary Officer vacancies, comprising 20 general recruitment posts and 5 special backlog posts.

Candidates generally require B.V.Sc. & A.H. or another recognized equivalent veterinary qualification and must be duly registered with the Uttarakhand Veterinary Council.
