Technician Grade I Signal carries 7th CPC Pay Level 5 with initial pay of ₹29,200. Technician Grade III carries Pay Level 2 with initial pay of ₹19,900, plus applicable Railway allowances.

Application-structure warning: Pay Level 5 and Pay Level 2 require separate applications, separate fees and separate CBTs. Within one pay level, choose only one RRB and submit only one application. Multiple applications for the same pay level can cause rejection and debarment from future RRB/RRC examinations.

Largest notified categories include Fitter (PU & Workshop) 1,109, Welder (PU & Workshop) 584, Carriage and Wagon 501, Fitter (Open Line) 469, Diesel Mechanical 346, Electrical General Services 329 and S&T 320 vacancies. The full CEN contains 25 notified categories, including eight merged post categories.
Qualification and medical warning: match your ITI, apprenticeship, diploma or degree title with Annexure A before selecting preferences. A general Engineering diploma or degree is not accepted in place of ITI/Act Apprenticeship for Level 2 unless that specific post expressly permits it. Medical unsuitability for the opted posts can block appointment; LASIK or similar refractive surgery is not accepted for A3-standard posts.
₹500 for candidates not covered by the concessional categories. After appearing in CBT, ₹400 is refundable after applicable bank-charge deduction.
₹250 for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and Economically Backward Class candidates. This amount is refundable after appearing in CBT, subject to bank charges.
Fee is payable separately for each pay level. A candidate applying for both Level 5 and Level 2 must submit and pay for both applications separately.
Refund requires CBT attendance and a valid Aadhaar-seeded bank account. Rejected, incomplete or unsubmitted applications do not receive a refund.
EBC is only a fee-concession category. It is different from EWS and OBC and does not provide job reservation.
Complete the qualification by 29 July 2026. Final-year or result-awaited candidates are not eligible.
Use the exact Matriculation details during account creation. Name, parents' names and date of birth must match the Class 10 or equivalent certificate.
Account details cannot be corrected later. Mobile number, email, primary personal details and chosen RRB remain locked after account creation or submission as applicable.
Post preferences are final. Leaving a Railway, production unit or post out of the preference list is treated as unwillingness for that option.
Check medical standards before ranking posts. Grade III includes A3, B1, B2 and C1 standards with different vision requirements. Candidates medically unfit for an opted post are not automatically guaranteed another appointment.
Reservation certificates must satisfy Central Government rules. OBC-NCL must be in the Central List and the prescribed certificate must be issued within the notified period. EWS, EBC, PwBD and other claims require the correct documents by the relevant cut-off.
Government and PSU employees need an NOC. It must be produced at document verification.

Negative marking: one-third mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
Minimum qualifying percentages: UR/EWS 40%, OBC-NCL 30%, SC 30% and ST 25%; limited PwBD relaxation may apply against reserved vacancies.
Normalisation: marks will be normalised when CBT is held in multiple shifts.
Document-verification shortlisting: normally 1:1 against the RRB-wise vacancies, based on CBT merit for the relevant pay level.
No interview is listed. Final appointment depends on CBT merit, original-document verification, medical fitness, character verification, preference and vacancy availability.
Tie-break rule: when candidates have equal marks, the older candidate receives higher merit; if age is also equal, alphabetical order of the given name is used.
Capture a live photograph in the portal. Do not photograph a printed or digital photo. Remove cap, mask and spectacles, use a clear background and preferably wear non-white clothing.
Upload a compliant signature. Sign in running handwriting with black ink on white paper; upload JPG/JPEG of 30–49 KB. Block letters, thumb impressions or unclear signatures can cause rejection, except permitted PwBD cases.
Authenticate through Aadhaar or DigiLocker where possible. Alternate photo-ID verification can lead to stricter scrutiny at later stages.
Keep your personal mobile and email active. RRB communication, call letters and stage updates are sent through the portal, SMS and email.
Scribe candidates must act twice. Opt for scribe in the application and then submit the registered scribe's OTR details during 11–15 August 2026.
Open the official RRB application portal and sign in with the existing RRB account used for earlier 2024–2026 CENs, or create a new account carefully.
Choose the pay level and one RRB after comparing Annexure A qualifications, Annexure B vacancies and the medical standards.
Enter post and Railway preferences in the correct order because omitted options and the chosen RRB cannot be changed later.
Complete live-photo capture, upload the signature and pay the applicable fee separately for each pay level applied for.

Training may be prescribed. Only stipend may be paid during the training period.
Posting is preference- and vacancy-based. Allotment depends on CBT merit, reservation, medical fitness and the vacancy position when the panel is prepared.
Transfer should not be expected early. The notification states that requests for transfer to another Railway are normally not registered until completion of at least 5 to 10 years of service.
A security or indemnity bond may be required. Selected candidates may also be liable for active service in the Railway Engineers Unit of the Territorial Army.
