Punjab and Haryana High Court Driver Recruitment 2026

The High Court of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh has released Employment Notice No. 04/DRV/HC/2026 dated 28 August 2026 for recruitment to Driver posts on the establishment of the High Court.

The recruitment contains 25 Driver vacancies. The advertised number of vacancies may increase or decrease depending upon the vacancies available at the time of preparation of the merit list.

Application Fee: Rs. 1,000 for General candidates and SC/ST/BC candidates belonging to areas or States other than Punjab, Haryana and U.T. Chandigarh. Rs. 800 for eligible SC/ST/BC candidates of Punjab, Haryana and U.T. Chandigarh and for Ex-Servicemen. Online transaction charges are extra. The fee is non-refundable.

Reservation and fee-relaxation benefits for SC/ST/BC candidates are available only to eligible candidates possessing certificates issued by the competent authority and who are domiciled or permanent residents of Punjab, Haryana or U.T. Chandigarh. Candidates belonging to other States will be treated under the General category.

Ex-Servicemen reservation, fee concession and applicable age relaxation are available only to Ex-Servicemen themselves and not to their dependents.

Educational Qualification: At least 10+2 pass with Punjabi or Hindi as one of the subjects in the Matriculation examination.

Driving Licence: Candidate must possess a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving licence. A candidate will not automatically be treated as eligible to drive an LMV merely because a higher category of vehicle is endorsed on the driving licence.

Driving Experience: Minimum two years of experience in driving a car. Candidates must furnish the relevant driving-experience certificate when called for testimonials checking.

Driving Conduct: The candidate should not have been convicted of any offence for negligent driving. The prescribed affidavit/undertaking regarding rash or negligent driving must be produced at the relevant recruitment stage.

Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old as on 18 September 2026. All eligibility conditions relating to age, qualification and experience must be satisfied on the application closing date.

For Ex-Servicemen, the upper-age limit is relaxed by the period of defence service plus 3 years.

Depending upon the number of applications received, the High Court may adopt a suitable shortlisting criterion and notify it separately through a public notice.

Provisionally eligible candidates will be called for a Practical Test-cum-Interview. Selection to the Driver post will be based on performance in this Practical Test-cum-Interview.

Candidates proposed for appointment will thereafter be required to work for a trial period determined by the High Court. During the trial period, remuneration will be paid at the applicable daily-wager rates approved by the Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh. A candidate will be considered for appointment only after successful completion of the trial period according to the assessment of the High Court.

The detailed employment notice does not specify a numeric pay level. Pay and allowances of appointed candidates will be governed by the latest applicable rules and instructions issued by the Government of Punjab and adopted by the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.

Duty hours may extend beyond normal working hours and may include odd hours. Selected Drivers may also be posted at Delhi or in any district of Punjab and Haryana from time to time. No extra perk or allowance is payable merely on account of such posting.

The High Court has advertised 25 Driver vacancies.
