ISRO Scientist Engineer SC Electronics Mechanical Computer Science Recruitment 2026

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), through the ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB), has released Advertisement No. ISRO:ICRB:03(EMC):2026 dated 27 August 2026 for recruitment to Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts in Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Science disciplines.

A total of 175 vacancies are notified. Out of these, 172 vacancies are in constituent ISRO Centres and 3 vacancies are in the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), an autonomous body under the Department of Space.

Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts in constituent ISRO Centres are Group 'A' Gazetted posts, while the three PRL posts are Group 'A' Non-Gazetted posts. The notified vacancy numbers are tentative and may be increased or reduced through a corrigendum.

Application Fee: The non-refundable application fee is Rs. 250 for all posts, but every candidate must initially pay Rs. 750 as processing fee.

The processing fee is refunded only to candidates who actually appear in the Written Test / CBT. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates who appear in the examination receive a full refund of Rs. 750. Other candidates who appear in the examination receive Rs. 500 back after deduction of the Rs. 250 application fee. Candidates who do not appear in the Written Test / CBT are not eligible for refund.

Fee payment is accepted online through BharatKosh using Internet Banking, UPI or domestic Debit Card. Correct bank account details must be entered in the application to receive the applicable processing-fee refund.

Discipline-wise combined total: Electronics 100, Mechanical 53 and Computer Science 22 = 175 vacancies. Several vacancies in the constituent ISRO Centres are identified for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, including backlog PwBD vacancies as indicated in the advertisement.

Candidates must possess BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Electronics & Communication Engineering with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks or CGPA 6.84/10.

Allied disciplines accepted under Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Science are specified separately in the official ISRO FAQ. Candidates should verify that their exact degree title is accepted before applying.

Graduation must have been completed within the stipulated duration of the course prescribed by the University. Where both CGPA and percentage are mentioned in the degree or consolidated mark sheet, at least one of the two must independently satisfy ISRO's eligibility standard. Conversion of CGPA into percentage solely for establishing eligibility is not permitted where only CGPA is stated.

Maximum Age: 28 years as on 16 September 2026. Serving Central Government civilian employees, Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation according to Government of India orders.

Selection consists of Written Test / Computer Based Test followed by Interview.

Part A contains 80 discipline-specific MCQs for 80 marks with a duration of 90 minutes. One mark is awarded for each correct answer and one-third mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Unattempted questions carry zero marks.

Part B carries 20 marks with 30 minutes duration and a maximum of 15 MCQs. Questions cover Numerical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Diagrammatic Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning and Deductive Reasoning. There is no negative marking in Part B.

Written Test Total: 100 marks. Unreserved candidates must obtain at least 50% separately in Part A and Part B. PwBD candidates, wherever posts are reserved, must obtain at least 40% separately in each part.

Candidates will be shortlisted for Interview based on Written Test performance generally in the ratio of 1:5, with an aggregate minimum of 10 candidates. Separate or additional candidates may be shortlisted for reserved PwBD vacancies according to the notified provisions.

The Interview carries 100 marks and evaluates Technical / Academic Knowledge, General Awareness related to the technical specialisation, Presentation and Communication Skill, Comprehension and Academic Achievements.

For Unreserved candidates, qualifying standards are 50% in Written Test, 50% in Interview and 60% aggregate. For PwBD candidates against reserved posts, the corresponding standards are 40% in Written Test, 40% in Interview and 50% aggregate.

Final Panel Weightage: 50% Written Test + 50% Interview.

Selected candidates will be appointed as Scientist/Engineer 'SC' in Pay Matrix Level-10 with minimum basic pay of Rs. 56,100 per month.

In addition to basic pay, Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and Transport Allowance are payable under applicable rules. Employees are covered by the New Pension Scheme and may also receive admissible benefits such as medical facilities for self and dependants, subsidised canteen, limited quarters facility in lieu of HRA, Leave Travel Concession, Group Insurance and House Building Advance.

The posts are temporary but likely to continue. Appointees may be posted in any Department of Space / ISRO Centre or Unit and may subsequently be transferred depending on organisational requirements.

At the online application stage, the notification specifically requires Photo, Signature and the applicable supporting certificate for Women / SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen processing-fee refund claims. Original qualification, age, category and NOC documents should be kept ready for production when called for.

The notification contains 175 vacancies across Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Science disciplines.

Candidates require the prescribed BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree with at least 65% marks or CGPA 6.84/10 in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science Engineering, depending on the post.

The maximum age is 28 years as on 16 September 2026, with applicable relaxation under Government of India orders.

All candidates initially pay Rs. 750. The non-refundable application fee component is Rs. 250. Candidates who appear in the Written Test / CBT receive the applicable refund according to their category.

Selection consists of Written Test / CBT followed by Interview. The final panel gives 50% weightage to Written Test marks and 50% to Interview marks.

Scientist/Engineer 'SC' is placed in Pay Matrix Level-10 with minimum basic pay of Rs. 56,100 per month plus applicable allowances and benefits.
