Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi has invited applications from Indian citizens for non-faculty posts under its Administrative, Technical, Library, Engineering and Rajbhasha cadres. The recruitment is being conducted under Advertisement No. 03/2026-27 through the SAMARTH online application portal.
A total of 55 vacancies have been advertised across 10 post categories.

Printout of the successfully submitted application with the prescribed supporting documents must also be forwarded to the Registrar, IIT (BHU), Varanasi within 7 days after the online application closing date.
Qualification and experience requirements are post-specific. Candidates must satisfy the prescribed essential qualification, marks and experience requirements for the post they select.
Junior Superintendent: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with at least 55% marks, prescribed relevant government/autonomous body/PSU/research organisation experience and proficiency in computer office applications.
Junior Technician Group-I: Bachelor's Degree in Science with Chemistry or Physics as one of the subjects, minimum 55% marks and proficiency in computer office applications.
Junior Technician Group-II to Group-V: Relevant Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent with minimum 55% marks, or relevant three-year Engineering Diploma after 10+2 with minimum 55% marks and one year of relevant experience, as applicable to the concerned group.
Junior Library Assistant: Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science with 55% marks, or the specified Diploma plus Bachelor's Degree combination, or two-year integrated M.Lib. & Information Science degree with 55% marks.
Assistant Engineer: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil/Electrical Engineering with the prescribed post-qualification experience at Level 6 or above.
Junior Engineer: B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering with at least 55% marks and minimum two years of relevant post-qualification experience, or three-year Civil Engineering Diploma with 55% marks and minimum three years of relevant experience.
Junior Translation Officer: Bachelor's Degree in Hindi with three years of relevant English-to-Hindi and Hindi-to-English translation experience after the qualifying degree in the prescribed organisations.
The advertised upper age limits range from 27 years to 40 years depending on the post. Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India norms.

The advertised total is 55 vacancies. One Junior Superintendent seat and one Junior Technician seat are indicated as reserved for PwBD candidates as specified in the advertisement.
The advertisement does not prescribe one identical selection process for every post. IIT (BHU) may shortlist candidates based on qualifications, suitability and experience. Depending on the post, shortlisted candidates may be called for a Screening Test, Written Test, Presentation, Group Discussion, Personal Interview or another applicable selection stage.

Appointments may be made on regular terms with a probation period. The Institute also reserves the right to offer a post on contract basis depending on qualification, experience and performance in the selection process.

Application fee for Group B posts is Rs. 500 for candidates other than SC/ST/PwBD/all-female candidates. The exempt categories pay NIL.
Application fee for Group C posts is Rs. 250 for candidates other than SC/ST/PwBD/all-female candidates. The exempt categories pay NIL.
