HP Police Constable Recruitment 2026

Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has invited Online Recruitment Applications for regular Police Constable (Male) and Police Constable (Female) posts in the Himachal Pradesh Police Department under Advertisement Nos. 57/7-2026 and 58/7-2026. The combined recruitment covers 734 vacancies, including 491 male and 243 female posts.

HPPSC has issued Addendum No. 4-06/2024-PSC(R-III) dated 21 August 2026 after the Government of Himachal Pradesh approved a one-time age relaxation for Home Guards of Himachal Pradesh applying for Police Constable Male and Female posts.

In view of this relaxation, the last date for submission of the Online Recruitment Application has been extended by a further 15 days from 21 August 2026 to 05 September 2026 up to 11:59 PM.

Candidates who have already submitted their applications do not need to apply again.

Except for the fresh Home Guard age relaxation and extension of the application deadline, all other terms and conditions of Advertisement Nos. 57/7-2026 and 58/7-2026 remain unchanged.

The combined recruitment contains 734 Police Constable vacancies.

Broad category-wise combined vacancies are General including horizontal subcategories 288, Scheduled Caste 180, Scheduled Tribe 35, Other Backward Classes 150 and Economically Weaker Section 81.

Candidates must have passed Matriculation and 10+2 / Class 12 from a recognized institution or board.

Matriculation and 10+2 are generally required to have been completed from an institution, school or board situated in Himachal Pradesh. This condition does not apply to Bonafide Himachali candidates as provided in the recruitment conditions.

The standard age limit is calculated as on 01 January 2026.

The Government of Himachal Pradesh has approved a one-time relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit specifically for Home Guards of Himachal Pradesh applying against Advertisement Nos. 57/7-2026 and 58/7-2026.

This relaxation is an additional recruitment update notified through the HPPSC addendum dated 21 August 2026. Candidates claiming the benefit must belong to the eligible Himachal Pradesh Home Guard category and satisfy the remaining conditions of the advertisements.

The Physical Efficiency Test is qualifying in nature. Candidates must qualify all prescribed mandatory physical events.

Candidates qualifying the Physical Test are admitted to an offline OMR-based objective written examination.

The Police Constable post carries Pay Level 3 in the range of Rs. 20,200-64,000 along with admissible allowances and benefits under Himachal Pradesh Government rules.

The posts are regular Class-III, Non-Gazetted positions in the Himachal Pradesh Police Department. Selected candidates are required to undergo the prescribed recruit training and probation before confirmation in service.
