Salary / Stipend
Technician (1) is a Group-C post in Pay Matrix Level-2 with basic pay range ₹19,900-63,200, along with applicable Central Government/CSIR allowances such as HRA, Travelling Allowance, LTC, medical reimbursement and Children Education Allowance. New entrants are covered under the applicable National Pension System.

Application fee is ₹500. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempt from payment. Fee is paid online through SBI Collect and is non-refundable.
The basic educational requirement is SSC/Class 10 or equivalent with Science subjects and at least 55% marks, together with the prescribed trade qualification or relevant experience.
Route 1: Class 10 with Science and 55% marks plus ITI/National or State Trade Certificate in the concerned trade.
Route 2: Class 10 with Science and 55% marks plus 2 years full-time apprenticeship experience in the relevant trade.
Route 3: Class 10 with Science and 55% marks plus 3 years relevant work experience in an eligible Government/PSU/Autonomous organisation.
Qualification, age and experience are determined with reference to 17 September 2026. Where experience is required, it must have been acquired after obtaining the minimum prescribed educational qualification.
The normal upper age limit is 28 years as on 17 September 2026. SC/ST candidates receive 5 years relaxation, OBC-NCL 3 years and PwBD candidates 10 years, with other relaxations applicable according to CSIR/Government rules.

Category-wise total is UR 19, OBC-NCL 11, SC 6, ST 3 and EWS 4. Two posts are horizontally reserved for PwBD and four posts for Ex-Servicemen.
Selection proceeds through Screening → Qualifying Trade Test → Competitive Written Examination → Final Merit.
The written examination contains 150 objective questions, 400 marks and total duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. It may be conducted in OMR or computer-based mode.
